Hi hi.
I hope you’re all hanging in there as best you can, in whatever version of insane circumstances you find yourself in right now.
Extra love to everyone in Los Angeles where nerves are frayed and everyone is exhausted.
The rest of us need to remember that this is going to be a long rebuilding process and our support needs to continue after the news cycle starts to focus its attention elsewhere. Good thing we can totally handle that and continue to do all we can for those in need as time goes on.
ICYMI, I wrote a bit more about LA last week.
Also, definitely check out my friend and Modern Loss creator Rebecca’s latest post on their Substack. She’s also got a list of places to donate in there—including two of my obsessions, Altadena Girls and LA Lost Stuffy Project.
One thing about me is I’m gonna process with music. And playlists are one of my love languages. So as I was watching this beautiful Dawes performance of “Time Spent in Los Angeles” on Kimmel (in support of MusiCares), I was like “Duh. LA playlist.”
I’m sure I’ve left off a number of my personal favorites because while none of us outside of LA can understand fully what it feels like to be there, we are low-key frazzled. Not to mention all the things that are about to happen (again) on Monday. But I’d also love to hear yours in the comments.
Some of these are classic and obvious. Some are more of a me, personally, and LA thing. Oh, and OMG THIS LINEUP FOR THE BENEFIT THAT JUST CAME OUT THIS EVENING.

Randy Newman
How could I start anywhere else, really?
Never forget that this song also brought us “I Love My Friends” by the woman formerly known as Kris Kardashian.
