Am I the Only One Still Watching?!?
Let's talk about the shows you just couldn't break up with, even when they were terrible.
Hi friends,
How’s your week going so far?
Did you cry at the series finale of Manifest or was that just me?!? More on that one in a second, but watching the final run of eps on Netflix made me think about how many shows I just quietly never gave up on over the years.
For the most part, if I start a show, I will finish it. Even if I’m furious about it the entire time, which is not always the greatest decision—but I am who I am. Scorpios are extremely all or nothing about pretty much everything in life.
It is well documented around these parts that I have never left Grey’s Anatomy for a singular second and I wouldn’t have it any other way. But I have occasionally been able to break free from shows that pain me (Grey’s does NOT, even though I did have some notes for next season!) For example, The Walking Dead was making me so les mis for years, but I finally let myself stop watching and my life was so much better for it. I also eventually gave up on Riverdale, The Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise (god that was freeing!), Glee, and many others that I’ve probably blocked out1.
But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t sneaky love being in a small group of people who cannot let go, even when a show might be full-on terrible. I am never embarrassed to talk about them, and do here from time to time. But often it’s like me and one other friend texting about them in the shadows as their lights flicker out. Some started out strong and fell off…some may have never actually been good.
Here, a non-exhaustive list of such shows I could think of off the top of my head.
